COLLEGE PARK, Md. — The Maryland Energy Innovation Accelerator (MEIA), a program of the Maryland Clean Energy Center (MCEC), has selected the inaugural recipients of its Phase 2 Prototyping and Manufacturing Accelerator programs. The selected Maryland climate technology companies will receive up to $30,000 in non-dilutive, vendor-paid engineering and manufacturing support to help transform promising innovations into market-ready products and accelerate commercialization.
Early-stage climate technology startups often lack engineering expertise, manufacturing resources, and capital needed to move innovative technologies beyond proof of concept. Through the Prototyping and Manufacturing Accelerator programs, MEIA works with participating companies to identify their technical needs and connect them with experienced engineering and manufacturing firms that provide specialized expertise throughout the product development process. This collaborative approach helps companies overcome technical barriers, strengthen product readiness, and advance promising technologies toward commercialization.
Following a competitive application process, three Maryland climate technology companies were selected on April 28, 2026, to participate in the Phase 2 Prototyping and Manufacturing Accelerator programs. Over the following months, the MEIA team worked closely with each company to develop project scopes of work and identify qualified vendors. Vendor proposals were submitted by June 26, 2026, after which vendors were selected to support the projects. Prototyping activities are expected to begin in August 2026.
The inaugural participating companies include:
Capital Logistics is developing a dual-port charging system for medium- and heavy-duty electric trucks that supports both Combined Charging System (CCS) and Megawatt Charging System (MCS) standards. The technology is designed to reduce infrastructure costs while providing fleets with a flexible, future-ready charging solution.
Threshold Stack is developing an autonomous robotic platform that creates digital twins of commercial and industrial buildings using LiDAR, thermal imaging, and environmental sensors. The technology helps building owners improve energy efficiency, comply with building performance standards, and accelerate decarbonization efforts through automated data collection and analysis.
Liatris is advancing a lightweight, non-combustible foamed cement insulation board that improves building fire safety and energy performance. Through the program, the company will optimize its pilot manufacturing process to support scalable production and commercialization.

To support these projects, MEIA has partnered with Harbor Designs, RPM Tech, and Embedzilla under Master Service Agreements to provide specialized engineering, design, prototyping, and manufacturing expertise. By leveraging the technical capabilities of these firms, MEIA is helping participating startups accelerate product development, reduce technical risk, and prepare their technologies for commercial scale.

The inaugural Phase 2 cohort reflects the continued commitment of MEIA to strengthen the Maryland climate technology ecosystem by providing entrepreneurs with the technical resources needed to commercialize innovative clean energy solutions. Through strategic partnerships with experienced engineering and manufacturing firms, the program helps bridge the gap between innovation and commercialization while supporting the continued growth of the clean energy economy in Maryland.
