Community Building
MCEC leads efforts in clean energy implementation, climate action, and community empowerment. A key part of this work is ensuring that all Marylanders have the opportunity to participate and benefit. Through events and strategic partnerships, we engage in impactful projects and secure grant opportunities that drive positive change across the state.
Bringing people together is at the heart of everything we do. Our work focuses on connecting residents, leaders, and partners to tackle shared challenges and expand opportunities. These efforts strengthen communities, foster collaboration, and create a future where everyone can succeed.

The Importance of Relationships and Empowerment
Strong relationships are the backbone of our work. When we build trust with residents, community leaders, and partners, we create a network of advocates who work together to solve problems and uplift each other. Empowered individuals become advocates for change within their own communities, inspiring others and creating a ripple effect of progress.

Our Vision for Community Building
Community building is about more than addressing current challenges; it’s about laying the groundwork for a brighter, more equitable future. By fostering inclusivity, empowering individuals, and creating partnerships, we aim to transform communities into hubs of innovation, collaboration, and resilience.
The newly formed Climate Equity Action Team (CEAT) consists of diverse advisors from grassroots organizations, faith communities, worker cooperatives, social justice advocates, community development groups, and government agencies. This team strengthens MCEC’s dedication to expanding access and opportunity by advancing energy fairness, environmental justice, and economic opportunities for communities that have been historically overlooked. Their efforts ensure that MCEC’s initiatives are inclusive and drive meaningful change towards a more equitable clean energy future.
