Community Building
MCEC leads in the areas of clean energy implementation, climate action, and community empowerment. A crucial aspect of this work is our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Through community events and forming strategic partnerships, the organization engages in impactful projects and secures grant opportunities that benefit everyone in Maryland.
Community building is at the heart of everything we do. Our work revolves around bringing together residents, leaders, and partners to address shared challenges and create opportunities that benefit everyone. These efforts create a stronger, more connected community, where everyone feels valued and can thrive.
The Importance of Relationships and Empowerment
Strong relationships are the backbone of our work. When we build trust with residents, community leaders, and partners, we create a network of advocates who work together to solve problems and uplift each other. Empowered individuals become advocates for change within their own communities, inspiring others and creating a ripple effect of progress.
Our Vision for Community Building
Community building is about more than addressing current challenges; it’s about laying the groundwork for a brighter, more equitable future. By fostering inclusivity, empowering individuals, and creating partnerships, we aim to transform communities into hubs of innovation, collaboration, and resilience.
The newly formed Climate Equity Action Team (CEAT) consists of diverse advisors from grassroots organizations, faith communities, worker cooperatives, social justice advocates, community development groups, and government agencies. This team strengthens MCEC’s dedication to DEI by advancing energy fairness, environmental justice, and economic opportunities for communities that have been historically overlooked. Their efforts ensure that MCEC’s initiatives are inclusive and drive meaningful change towards a more equitable clean energy future.
