Maryland Clean Energy Center (MCEC) Helps Commercial Property Owners Finance Energy-Saving Building Improvements

COLLEGE PARK, MD – MCEC has assumed full program administrator responsibilities for Maryland’s Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy Program (C-PACE), effective September 2025. The C-PACE program is a powerful financial tool that helps commercial property owners make energy improvements, which can lead to significant reductions in operating costs. This transition advances clean energy financing solutions by leveraging nearly two decades of institutional knowledge of MCEC in clean energy financing and Maryland’s energy landscape.

C-PACE offers commercial property owners long-term, fixed-rate financing for qualifying energy efficiency, renewable energy, and resilience projects.

  • Financial Control: Up to 100% project cost financing and extended repayment terms, energy savings often exceed the annual C-PACE assessment, providing positive cash flow from day one.
  • The MCEC Difference: MCEC uses its expertise in sustainable finance and commercial real estate to standardize and streamline the C-PACE program delivery across the state.
