The ceremony will highlight the community impact of the project and feature remarks from local leaders, key stakeholders, and members of the community.
Parking and round-trip shuttle service will be available from the Chestertown Marina, with departures to the project site at 10:30 AM and 10:45 AM.
Background
The Chestertown 2.2 MW dual-array solar project originated with a partnership between the Town and MCEC, with the Clean Energy Center working with local leaders to review their goals and navigate procurement, contract award, utility interconnection, and construction contract management. Combined with funding from GreenGen and the Maryland Energy Administration, capital secured through MCEC financing programs helped Chestertown leaders finalize the project.
Once completed, the dual array will contribute 1.2 MW to municipal operations and 1.0 MW to community solar subscribers, resulting in expected annual savings of $400,000 for Chestertown and up to 20% on electricity bills for community solar participants.
