Marketing & Communications Project Coordinator
The Maryland Clean Energy Center (MCEC) is seeking a Marketing & Communications Project Coordinator to support the planning, coordination, and execution of marketing, communications, public relations, sponsorship, and event initiatives that advance MCEC’s mission, programs, and strategic priorities.
This position focuses on project coordination, communications support, production management, event logistics, and vendor coordination to help ensure marketing and communications initiatives are executed effectively, on schedule, and in alignment with organizational objectives and brand standards.
The Marketing & Communications Project Coordinator works collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders to support outreach efforts, stakeholder engagement, and awareness of MCEC programs and initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Marketing and Communications Project Management
- Develop and maintain the organization’s marketing and communications project portfolio, calendars, timelines, and production schedules.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects and campaigns while ensuring priorities, deadlines, and deliverables are met.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams and facilitate communication among internal stakeholders, consultants, vendors, and external partners.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and proactively resolve issues affecting project delivery.
- Support the use and development of project management processes, templates, workflows, and documentation standards.
Marketing Campaign Execution
- Support development and execution of integrated marketing campaigns across digital, print, email, social media, advertising, sponsorships, and events.
- Coordinate campaign production schedules, approvals, and deliverables.
- Conduct market and audience research to identify outreach opportunities and support communications planning.
Communications and Public Relations
- Coordinate production and distribution of organizational communications, newsletters, press releases, media advisories, presentations, and stakeholder communications.
- Support media relations activities and maintain media contact databases.
- Assist with development of executive communications, talking points, presentations, and public-facing materials.
- Monitor media coverage and prepare communications reports and metrics.
Event and Sponsorship Management
- Support planning and execution of conferences, workshops, webinars, stakeholder meetings, trade shows, and community engagement events.
- Coordinate venue selection, registrations, vendor management, logistics, travel arrangements, speaker coordination, sponsorship fulfillment, and on-site event support.
- Support event schedules, production timelines, post-event evaluations, and event related documentation.
- Ensure sponsorship commitments and partner deliverables are fulfilled accurately and on schedule.
Vendor and Production Management
- Coordinate with external marketing vendors, consultants, designers, printers, photographers, videographers, and agencies to support project delivery.
- Support duction schedules, approvals, quality control processes, and asset delivery.
- Maintain organized digital asset libraries, templates, branding resources, and production archives.
Reporting and Administrative Support
- Support tracking of marketing and event-related expenses and maintain associate documentation.
- Compile project updates, campaign summaries, event reports, and other marketing and communications reports as requested.
- Maintain marketing databases, contact lists, communication schedules, and project documentation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Experience coordinating external vendors and stakeholder relationships.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Proficiency with project management, CRM, and marketing technology platforms.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant professional experience.
- Two (2) to five (5) years of experience in marketing, communications, project coordination, public relations, event coordination, or related field.
- Experience supporting multiple projects and coordinating cross-functional initiatives.
- Experience working with CRM systems, project management software, and digital communications platforms preferred.
SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Possession of a valid driver’s license meeting the requirements of Maryland law and other Maryland Clean Energy Center (MCEC) Policies.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Visual requirements for computer activities are essential. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely required to talk, hear, sit, walk, bend, and stoop, reach with hands and arms, use hands and fingers. Ability to operate standard office equipment. Ability to remain stationary for extended periods while performing computer-based work. Ability to occasionally lift and transport materials weighing up to 25 pounds for events and meetings.
WORK LOCATION AND SCHEDULE
MCEC supports a hybrid work environment. This position is primarily based at our College Park, MD office, with a combination of on-site and remote work to support collaboration, efficiency, and program needs. Occasional evening and weekend work required for events, conferences, and stakeholder engagements. Occasional travel throughout Maryland may be required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The candidate will be expected to be results oriented and perform responsibilities with an appropriate sense of urgency cognizant at all times of strict timeframes. Success in this position will depend on ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
SALARY RANGE
The anticipated salary range for this position is $65,000 – $75,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and internal equity.
