What is Community Solar?
Community solar is a great way for renters and homeowners to enjoy the benefits of solar power without installing panels on their own roofs. You subscribe to a local solar farm and a portion of the energy it produces is credited to your electricity bill. It’s an easy way to save money, support local solar, and enjoy stable rates without any installation or maintenance.

How It Works
Eligibility: If you pay an energy bill to BGE, Pepco, Delmarva, or Potomac Edison, you’re eligible to join a community solar project.
Choose a Project: Find a community solar project near you. Check with your local utility or visit websites like Neighborhood Sun , Groundswell, and Solar United Neighbors, to see available projects in your area.

Sign Up: It’s usually as simple as filling out a form or making a phone call.
Start Saving: Once you’re signed up, the solar farm generates electricity, and you receive credits on your electricity bill based on your share of the solar energy produced. Check with your utility company or community solar provider to see how the credits are applied and what you can save.
