Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant
In January 2024, the Maryland Clean Energy Center (MCEC) was awarded a $15 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to fund electric vehicle charging stations and innovative workforce development investments. Funding will support the Maryland Equitable Charging Infrastructure Partnership (MECIP), which is made up of statewide public and private partners working collaboratively to bring ready to deploy equitable charging and infrastructure to the State of Maryland.
Currently, 58 Community Charging Sites have been approved:

July 18, 2024 @ 3:000pm - Open Call to Participate in the Maryland Clean Energy Center Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant Opportunity (Round 2)
Join the Maryland Clean Energy Center (MCEC) on July 18th from 3pm to 4pm to discuss the Notice of Funding Opportunity for the next round of the DOT/FHWA Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant. MCEC is looking to bring together a collaborative group with shovel ready projects for Electric Vehicle charging station installation throughout the state. The focus of the application will be on rural areas and underserved communities with EV Charging helping to fill in gaps and benefit Justice40 communities.
MCEC will be submitting both a COMMUNITY application and a CORRIDOR application for Round 2. We encourage everyone to bring their best ideas to the meeting to ensure we develop an innovative application and stay competitive in Round 2. The Notice of Funding Opportunity can be found here. Please note there are differences between this year’s application and last year’s application, which will be discussed at the meeting. A total Project Match of 20% is required for all projects.
