SSI, a Baltimore, Maryland headquartered energy solutions company, develops highly innovative mobile renewable powered energy, communications and water systems that save lives in the aftermath of a catastrophe such as the one that recently struck Japan.
Billed as “instant infrastructure,” SSI’s mobile units utilize wind and solar energy to generate sufficient power to supply several homes, a military facility, field hospitals, or relief or command centers. They also have the ability to deliver on-board water purification capabilities as well as full-scale telecommunications, all aboard a single, easily deployed mobile platform.
SSI’s mobile units can be transported virtually anywhere using a standard one-ton pickup truck. They utilize state-of-the-art solar tracking, remote command and control capabilities as well as a self-erecting 106-foot tall communications tower topped with a power generating wind turbine.
In addition to providing much needed power, communications and clean drinking water to remote areas or disaster sites, these systems also can support capacity expansion for telecommunications companies, power for agriculture irrigation projects in developing nations, as well as supporting camera systems for border protection. SSI is in talks with the Baltimore Grand Prix, coming to Baltimore Labor Day Weekend 2012, to provide these renewable power units to replace the traditional diesel generators in the Car Corral and Hospitality areas of the race, significantly reducing the race’s carbon footprint, reducing noise and costs.
SSI is an Affiliate at the Clean Energy Technology Incubator at the University of Maryland Baltimore County. You can learn more about SSI’s recent initiatives by watching this WBAL-TV segment about the company or visiting www.strategicservices.co
