MD Clean Energy Tech Incubator Network
Speeding Promising R&D from the Bench to the Bank
The Maryland Clean Energy Center has partnered with bwtech@UMBC to support early stage companies working with clean energy technologies and advance green job creation in the state.
The Maryland Clean Energy Technology Incubator (CETI) @bwtech is the first site in a planned statewide network of clean energy incubators, which are designed to accelerate the commercialization of new technologies and boost small business innovation.
Tenants within the Incubator Network will receive:
- Affordable office space
- Assistance with business plans, marketing, and management of intellectual property
- Counsel from a part-time Entrepreneur-in-Residence
- Access to an advisory board of experienced researchers and executives in the clean energy sector
- Help with securing funding, both from government sources and angel investors
CETI@bwtech
CETI@bwtech will provide services specifically tailored to the needs of companies working with solar power, wind power, geothermal, hydro-power, biofuels and energy conservation and storage technologies. Tenant companies will have the opportunity to collaborate with UMBC faculty and students and benefit from UMBC’s existing strengths in environmental sciences.
The facilities total 18,000 square feet within the Biotechnology Building, located about 1 mile from the main campus of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County
Amenities at bwtech include:
- Office and wet lab space offered at affordable rates with flexible leasing terms
- Tax credits and economic incentives available
- Business support services from bwtech@UMBC's experienced entrepreneurial services staff
- Access to the resources of the UMBC campus, including day care, dining and fitness facilities, and core scientific equipment
