Strategic Plan
The Maryland Clean Energy Center's purpose is to promote clean energy economic development and jobs in the state through activities within five strategic focus areas:
- Economic Development & Job Creation
- Research & Development
- Technology Transfer, Commercialization and Entrepreneurial Activity
- Workforce Development
- Consumer Adoption
- Raise Awareness of clean energy and its advantages for the state, along with related tax credits and incentives available to consumers.
- Increase Credibility by creating a directory of accredited companies and contractors in the clean energy sector to connect consumers with businesses.
- Provide Convenient Access through a consumer loan program to help consumers finance energy efficiency improvements and renewable energy installations on their properties.
- Encourage research & development activity, including advocating for and identifying sources of R&D funding.
- Support commercialization & entrepreneurial innovation by fully developing the Maryland Clean Energy Technology Incubator Network.
- Identify and provide access to financing opportunities to support business enterprise at every stage of the development pipeline beyond research & discovery, developing public-private financing partnerships wherever possible.
- Support the adoption and implementation of appropriate policy to remove roadblocks impeding progress for the clean energy sector. [link to Legislative Agenda]
- Provide appropriate workforce development opportunities, undertaking initiatives that seek to fill unique gaps unmet by existing programs.
- Establish quantitative and qualitative metrics to help track the success of our efforts over time.
- Are we reducing statewide carbon emissions? Are businesses thriving? Are we reducing statewide demand and average residential and commercial energy costs through wider adoption energy efficient practices and renewable power sources?
